Bodycam footage shows Miami-Dade PD detainment of Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill

US

A day after Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill was pulled over and briefly detained by police, bodycam footage of the incident was released.

Multiple Miami-Dade police officers were seen on camera while two officers removed the wide receiver, tossed him on the ground and put him in handcuffs. Before the removal, an officer questioned why Hill didn’t have his seatbelt on as he appeared to hand over his license and registration.

Hill then rolled his window up, prompting the officer to tell him “keep your window down.”

“Keep your window down or I’m gonna get you out of the car,” the officer said. He then said right after: “As a matter of fact get out the car.”

Another officer was seen saying he was going to break the window of Hill’s car.

The incident took place Sunday hours before the Dolphins’ Week 1 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. On Monday, a South Florida union claimed Hill was “uncooperative” during the detainment. Hill was not arrested, according to the union, which claimed the wide receiver was “driving in a manner” that put “himself and others in great risk of danger.”

The union claims the officers handcuffed Hill for their own “safety” and in adherence to department policy. Hill said on Sunday that he was sitting inside his car with his hands on the wheel.

While Hill — on his stomach — was put in handcuffs, an officer had a knee on the Dolphins player’s back.

“When we tell you to do something, you do it,” the officer yelled. You understand? Not what you want but what we tell you. You’re a little fu–ing confused.”

“Take me to jail bruh,” Hill said while on the ground. “Do what you gotta do.”

“We will,” an officer responded.

During the incident, Hill was on the phone “Drew,” presumably his agent Drew Rosenhaus.

“Hey Drew I’m getting arrested,” Hill said.

Later in the video, an officer forced Hill to the ground while Hill yelled “I just had surgery on my knee.”

“Really? What a coincidence,” an officer responded.

On Sunday, the police department said in a statement that one of the officers involved was placed on administrative leave while the incident is investigated.
