SWAT team responds to Roseland shooting early Sunday, arresting suspect

Chicago police deployed a SWAT team in response to shots fired early Sunday morning in Roseland. A suspect was taken into custody and two individuals are in the hospital.

A 29-year-old man who self-transported from the scene on the 10500 block of South Cottage Grove to the University of Chicago hospital was reported to be in critical condition after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.

A second unidentified victim was taken to Roseland Community Hospital with a graze wound to the left forearm. They were reported to be in good condition.

After barricading themselves at the scene following the shooting at 2:13 a.m., a suspect was eventually arrested without incident.

Area Two detectives are still investigating.
