Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen landed on his hand during the Bills’ 34-28 win over the Arizona Cardinals, injuring his non-throwing hand. Allen finished the game with his left hand and wrist wrapped but did not miss time during the game.
Allen said after the game that he was “fine.” He will undergo X-rays this week, via Dom Tibbetts of WKBW. The Bills have a short turnaround before their second game of the season against the Miami Dolphins in Miami on Thursday Night Football.
Despite injuring his hand during the game, Allen led a comeback win over the Cardinals. Arizona started fast, taking a 17-3 lead over the Bills with 2:40 left in the second quarter.
As he has often done over his career, Allen took matters into his own hands to pull the Bills out of a deficit. He rushed for a seven-yard touchdown before the half and led the Bills on another touchdown drive to open the second half, throwing an 11-yard pass to Mack Hollins for six. He added another touchdown in the third quarter on a pass to Khalil Shakir and rushed for a second touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Often criticized for poor decision-making or inaccuracy, Allen put those doubts aside on Sunday as he completed 18 of 23 pass attempts for 230 yards and two touchdowns. On the ground, he carried the ball nine times for 39 yards and two touchdowns. His lone mistake of the day was a fumble early in the game.
Neither the injury nor a revamped receiving core following the offseason departure of Stefon Diggs slowed down the heroic efforts of Allen in the first game of the season.

X-rays will likely determine Allen’s status heading into Week 2. Allen is one of the most durable quarterbacks in the NFL and holds the longest active starting streak among quarterbacks. Allen has started 98 straight games, including the playoffs, and has not missed a game since his rookie season.
The 6-foot-5 passer has proven himself as one of the toughest players in the game. Even while he regularly runs, takes contact, hurdles defenders, and rarely slides, Allen has not missed an NFL game outside of his rookie season. Allen played through a shoulder injury a season ago and did not miss any time.
If able to play Thursday as expected, Allen will face a Dolphins team that they have defeated each of the last four times.
