Chronic wasting disease (CWD) continues in 21 counties of northern Illinois. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources announced a series of public meetings across northern Illinois.

The one in the Chicago area is at Des Plaines State Fish and Wildlife Area, 28163 North River Road, Wilmington, at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26.

If you are interested in attending a meeting closer to where you hunt or own land, the complete listing is at https://ltgov.illinois.gov/news/press-release.30389.html.

The IDNR indicated the general procedure of the meetings:

During the public meetings, IDNR staff will be available to discuss current management strategies and answer questions about the disease, commonly known as CWD. Landowners, hunters and concerned residents are encouraged to attend. CWD continues to be an important issue in future deer management discussions in Illinois.

Presentations will be followed by a 45- to 60-minute presentation and discussion.
