Forest Park police identify final victim killed in Blue Line shooting

US

Police on Friday released the name of the last remaining unidentified victim of this week’s mass shooting on a CTA Blue Line train in Forest Park.

Sean Jones, 52, of Chicago, was named by Forest Park Police as the first of the three people shot to death as they slept on the train early Monday. A fourth rider was killed as he lifted his hand to defend himself.

The four bodies were discovered by a CTA worker who was cleaning the train at about 5:30 a.m., shortly after the train pulled into the Forest Park station, 711 Des Plaines Ave. Officials said the three sleeping victims were in one car, and the fourth person was in another.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office and police have identified the other three victims as Margaret Miller Johnson, 64; Adrian Collins, 60; and Simeon Bihesi, 28. Jones, Bihesi and Johnson were pronounced dead at the scene. Collins died at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.

Johnson died of a gunshot wound to her head, Collins died of a gunshot wound to his abdomen, and Bihesi and Jones died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to autopsy results.

A few hours after the shooting, Chicago police arrested 30-year-old Rhanni Davis on a Pink Line train and recovered a handgun.

Davis faces four counts of first-degree murder.

The suspect is accused of fatally shooting Jones, Bihesi and Johnson as they slept in one car. Davis then allegedly walked into another car and shot Collins as the 60-year-old man raised his hand in defense.

Police and prosecutors have released no motive for the attack.

Earlier in the week, Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx said “right now, we don’t have answers as to why anyone would engage in such a heinous, heinous act.”

“As this case plays out in court, many of these questions will be answered,” Foxx said Tuesday. “I fear, however, the question of why may never be answered because sometimes truly horrific, heinous acts have no answer.”
