Ben Affleck skips premiere of J.Lo movie ‘Unstoppable’

Barely three weeks after filing for divorce from Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez got a win when their latest film, “Unstoppable” — co-produced by the former couple — earned a standing ovation at the Toronto International Film Festival, which Affleck noticeably did not attend.

Lopez did, however, appear to share a bonding moment with Affleck’s best friend and co-producing partner, Matt Damon.

Bobby Cannavale, Jharrel Jerome, Jennifer Lopez, Don Cheadle, and Matt Damon attend the premiere of “Unstoppable” during the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival at Roy Thomson Hall on September 06, 2024 in Toronto, Ontario.

The sports biopic is inspired by the life of NCAA national championship-winning wrestler Anthony Robles, who was born with just one leg. The film stars Jharrel Jerome as Robles, alongside 55-year-old Lopez as Robles’ mom, Judy.

“Unstoppable” was warmly received when it premiered Friday at the Canadian film festival, People reports, with the real-life Robles praising the team behind the project for “nailing” his story.

The premiere came on the heels of Lopez filing for divorce from Affleck on Aug. 20 — the second anniversary of their 2022 nuptials in Georgia, which followed a Las Vegas elopement the previous month.

Lopez walked the red carpet in a shimmering silver gown with slits up both sides and oversized black bows. She posed for photos alongside Damon, as well as her co-stars Jerome, Bobby Cannavale and Don Cheadle.

Later in the evening, at the movie premiere’s afterparty, Lopez and Damon — Affleck’s lifelong best friend — were reportedly seen having a “long, deep conversation,” according to People.

Sources told the outlet the pair spent more than 20 minutes talking, and at one point were clasping hands as they appeared to be speaking about something serious.

While Lopez and Affleck spent the summer at the center of split speculation, news of the divorce filing was the first official word on the end of their relationship for the second time.

The duo were previously engaged in the early 2000s before calling off that wedding. They reunited in 2021 after divorcing their respective spouses.

Neither the Bronx native nor the “Argo” filmmaker have publicly commented on their split.

The last time they attended a red carpet event together was in February for the premiere of J.Lo’s “This Is Me… Now: A Love Story.” The film served as a companion piece to her latest album, “This Is Me… Now,” which is largely about her relationship with Affleck.
