Anna Delvey hits back at criticism from ‘The View,’ demands correction

US

Anna Delvey isn’t happy with recent criticism from the co-hosts of “The View” — in fact, she’s demanding they issue a correction.

The ankle-monitor-clad, convicted con artist became a hot topic on the talk show Thursday following this week’s announcement that she’ll compete on “Dancing With the Stars.”

Co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin took umbrage at the casting of the 33-year-old fake heiress, bemoaning she’s being rewarded for bad behavior and hasn’t shown appropriate remorse for her actions.

“I’m here for a redemption arc, not a rehabilitation arc,” Griffin said, going on to compare Delvey to other convicted criminals like Martha Stewart and Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who she said have “taken responsibility for what they did wrong.”

“I’m not convinced that [Delvey] has,” Griffin continued. “She still owes people money. And con artists tend to remain con artists!”

After a video of the segment was posted on social media, Delvey wasted no time taking the ladies to task in the comment section.

“While you are entitled to your own opinions, you should at least get your facts straight,” she tweeted on Friday. “I served my time and paid everyone back in full 3+ years ago. Looking forward to your on-air correction.”

Delvey, the subject of Netflix scripted series “Inventing Anna,” was convicted in 2019 of defrauding nearly $300,000 from friends, hotels and financial institutions over a period of four years. Charges against her included various degrees of grand larceny and theft of services.

The Russian-born German citizen was released from immigration jail nearly two years ago and placed on house arrest. She’s currently awaiting deportation to Germany.

The new season of “Dancing With the Stars” premieres Sept. 17 on ABC and Disney+. Delvey has confirmed she’ll continue to wear her ankle monitor while competing on the show.
