After what is being described by authorities as an “explosion,” three firefighters with the Los Angeles Fire Department suffered burn injuries in the Shadow Hills neighborhood.
The blaze was reported as a vehicle fire at 9750 N Wheatland Avenue at about 2:20 p.m. The vehicle was described by LAFD as a gasoline-fueled coupe with “excessive personal storage” inside.
While battling the fire, three firefighters were injured by an explosion according to authorities. Each of the firefighters was transported to a local burn center.
Their injuries are not considered to be life-threatening, according to the LAFD.
The cause of the fire and explosion are under investigation. No other injuries were reported.
