AUSTIN (KXAN) — Akins ended a 26-game losing streak with a 42-29 win over Cedar Creek at Bastrop Memorial Stadium on Thursday. Cedar Creek’s losing streak was extended to 28 games.

Dylan Cagle rushed for nearly 300 yards with five touchdowns to lead Akins over Cedar Creek.

The Austin High Maroons scored with 0:50 left in the game to edge Westwood 35-34 at House Park to start the season 2-0. Dunaven Kurek grabbed a short pass and then raced 50 yards for the game-tying score and the extra point provided the game-winner. Austin had lost the previous eight matchups against Westwood.

Bowie held off Vista Ridge 37-28 at John Gupton Stadium to move to 2-0. Leander topped Hendrickson 42-21 at The Pfield and Pflugerville clobbered Hays 47-7.
