NYC Ferry prices go up Monday, fall schedules take effect

US

Tickets prices for the New York City Ferry go up on Monday, with regular ticket prices rising from $4 to $4.50, and bundles of 10 tickets rising from $27.50 to $29.

Prices for the ferry’s discount program, launched in 2022 and modeled after the city’s similar program for subways and buses, will go up as well — from $1.35 to $1.45 for a one-way ticket. The program is available every day to seniors, people with disabilities and low-income riders.

As of the start of this month, students can sign up to participate in the discount program for weekday tickets. Applications for students are available on the NYC Schools Account portal and the website for the ferry’s discount program.

Ticket prices for the ferry are heavily subsidized by taxpayers. A 2022 comptroller’s office report found the city underreported the ferry’s costs and the impact of those subsidies for years, though the Economic Development Authority says it’s been chipping away at the proportion of those subsidies.

The ferry’s fall schedule also begins on Monday. That includes some changes to departure times on the Rockaway, Astoria, and South Brooklyn routes.

The South Brooklyn route will resume service to Governors Island, and riders from other routes can transfer to the South Brooklyn route at Pier 11. Weekend South Brooklyn service will include direct early morning service between Red Hook and Pier 11 from 7:30 to 9 a.m.

A modified holiday schedule for the Jewish holiday of Sukkot in October has also been put in place.

Schedules for all routes are here.
