Albany observers were shocked this week when Linda Sun, a former state official and deputy chief of staff for Gov. Hochul, and her husband Chris Hu were arrested and charged by federal law enforcement. Not for petty corruption — that wouldn’t have been all too surprising in New York State government — but for having acted on behalf of the Communist Party of China during her official duties in exchange for financial rewards, gifts and the promotion of Hu’s and friends’ businesses.
