BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. — The Chicago Red Stars are set to honor their two Olympic gold medalists on Sunday.

The women’s soccer team will honor goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher and forward Mallory Swanson at SeatGeek Stadium before the match against the Orlando Pride on Sunday.

Swanson scored the lone goal of the Olympic gold medal match in the 57th minute of the game.

Naeher preserved the lead with a one-handed save.

Both players say sharing the experience made it all the more special.

“Just having her support through it all meant the world,” Swanson said of Naeher.

“It felt amazing,” added Naeher. “I’ve said this before about Mal, but just watching her journey and watching her growth as a person and a player, I think those moments become special with those who you are sharing them with.”
