Caltrans asks public for thoughts on new bike lanes in South El Monte

US

Caltrans wants to hear what you think about adding bike lanes to a stretch of Rosemead Boulevard in South El Monte that is set for improvements as part of the ongoing District 7 Complete Streets project.

“As a part of this improvement project, there is an opportunity to construct bicycle lanes along a portion of Rosemead Blvd, from Garvey Ave to Rush St.,” Caltrans stated.

The agency will also be fixing the existing pavement, adding two traffic signals at Klingerman Street and Fern Street, and upgrading curb ramps and crosswalks.

Caltrans created a short survey for those who frequent the area to provide information and share thoughts about how to best institute the bike lanes.

“As a stakeholder in this project, we appreciate you taking the time to share a bit about your travel habits and your vision for the future of Rosemead Blvd,” the agency stated on its questionnaire.

Caltrans District 7 will be hosting a meeting where the public can also voice their opinions at the Jeff Seymour Family Center in El Monte on Sept. 25 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Questions and comments regarding the project can also be sent to the Caltrans District 7 Complete Streets team at D7CompleteStreets@dot.ca.gov.
