US

Larry Adams

Two men are being detained pretrial on separate gun and drugs cases in DuPage County.

Larry Adams, 34, of the 100 block of Diane Drive, is charged with armed habitual criminal, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of more than 100 but fewer than 500 grams of cannabis, all felonies. He is also charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence.

On Monday, Elmhurst police officers on patrol were told a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee was driving erratically. Around 9 p.m., an officer saw it near North Avenue and York Street. They say it made an illegal left turn out of a parking lot. An officer reported there was a “ghost gun,” with one bullet in the chamber and a 30-round magazine, on the front passenger seat. The officer also reported finding 133 grams of cannabis in plastic bags on the rear passenger seat.

David Salinas

In the other case, Wood Dale police reported that around 4:20 p.m. Saturday, a patrol officer reported seeing a man snorting a line of cocaine off his hand while standing by a pickup truck in the parking lot of a liquor store.

Police say Salinas was driving the truck when they stopped it a short while later on a charge of disobeying a stop sign.

An officer reported there was a loaded Taurus 9mm handgun in Salinas’ right front pants pocket. They found .7 grams of cocaine in a plastic bag in his wallet.

Both have Sept. 30 court dates.
