DA reviewing Artem Chigvintsev’s domestic violence case

US

Formal charges could soon be filed against Artem Chigvintsev, now that the case has been officially turned over to the local district attorney’s office following the “Dancing with the Stars” pro’s arrest last week for felony domestic violence.

The Napa County District Attorney’s Office is currently reviewing the case and will decide whether or not the 42-year-old Russian dancer will be charged, DA office spokesman Carlos Villatoro told TMZ on Wednesday.

Evidence including witness statements, footage from the alleged incident and photos from the investigation will all have to be reviewed, Villatoro said.

Currently, the “Strictly Come Dancing” alum is set to be arraigned on Nov. 4.

Chigvintsev was arrested last Thursday in Yountville, Calif. for felony corporal injury of a spouse and was released later that afternoon on $25,000 bail.

The dispatcher noted that Chigvintsev requested medical assistance Thursday morning before “stating he got into an argument with his wife and his wife threw shoes at [reporting party],” according to the 911 dispatch call obtained Friday by TMZ.

Despite rescinding his request for paramedics, police came to the home and reportedly arrested Chigvintsev after observing the victim’s obvious injuries.

Chigvintsev’s wife, former WWE star Nikki Bella — legal name Nikki Garcia — celebrated their second wedding anniversary on Aug. 26, just three days before the alleged incident.

Sources have since told TMZ that Garcia, who was spotted over the weekend without her wedding ring, started looking for a divorce attorney as of Friday.

The couple, who share 4-year-old son Matteo, have always had a “volatile” marriage, sources told TMZ, adding they weren’t entirely surprised by Chigvintsev’s arrest.
