A 23-year-old woman fatally wounded one of two people who forcibly entered her residence Wednesday morning in the Austin neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly before 6:45 a.m., two people unlawfully entered a residence in the 700 block of North Laramie Avenue and displayed firearms, police said.

A woman who is a concealed carry license holder pulled out a weapon and an exchange of gunfire ensued. One of the suspects suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No other injuries were reported and detectives were investigating.
