Three men were shot, with two suffering critical injuries, in a violent encounter on Chicago’s South Side on Labor Day evening.

Police said they responded to a hospital shortly before 5:30 p.m. Monday for a call that multiple people had been shot in the 12300 block of South Emerald Avenue in the city’s West Pullman neighborhood.

Among the critical victims, a 28-year-old man was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. Another victim, 23, who suffered gunshot wounds in his chest and buttocks, was transported to Roseland Community Hospital.

Police said the third man, 26, who was shot in his buttocks, went to another area hospital without medical assistance and was listed in good condition late Monday.

No one was in custody late Monday, and Chicago police said they are investigating.
