Three fans ejected, one arrested during FSU football’s loss against Boston College

Amid the home opener upset for Florida State football, one fan was arrested and several others were ejected during the game.

The Seminoles took on the Boston College Eagles at Doak Campbell Stadium Monday night, facing a 28-13 defeat.

With a total of 51,719 fans in attendance at the 7:30 p.m. kickoff, the Florida State University Police Department reported that two fans were ejected during the game for disorderly conduct, and a third fan was ejected for “unknown reasons,” according to a records request obtained by the Tallahassee Democrat. Only one was a student.

A 45-year-old man, who was not affiliated with FSU, was arrested for flying a drone near the stadium shortly before the game started, according to the arrest report.

He is facing a charge of resisting arrest without violence after he didn’t provide his identification to the officers. The stadium was a “no flight zone” per the Federal Aviation Administration’s regulations.

“He indicated he wanted a picture of the stadium and received an alert of the no-fly zone and returned the drone as we were pulling up to make contact,” the report says.

Officers found the man remotely operating the drone from the outside the Master Craftsman Studio on West Gaines Street — less than half a mile from the stadium.

“The subject indicated that he didn’t have his identification and even if he did, he would not provide it because he had committed no crime,” the report says.

While en route to the Leon County Detention Facility, the man began to vomit in the back of the police car and instead was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare by Leon County EMS, according to the report. In the emergency room, the officer issued the man a notice to appear in court, and he was released from custody.
