Mount Prospect man injured in shooting at barbecue; 2 suspects on the run

MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill. – A man was injured after being shot while attending a barbecue in Mount Prospect Sunday night.

Authorities said just after 10:15 p.m. Sunday, Mount Prospect Police Officers responded to a BP gas station, located in the 800 block of Elmhurst Road, for reports of a person who had been shot.

When officers arrived, they learned a 33-year-old man had been shot multiple times while attending a barbecue in the 400 block of West Dempster Street in Mount Prospect.

The initial investigation revealed the man was attending a barbecue when two people approached him, got into an argument with him, and then pulled out a handgun and shot him multiple times, according to investigators.

The victim then fled toward the BP gas station. He was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life threatening. No other injuries were reported.

Detectives found multiple shell casings at the shooting scene.

Authorities said the suspects, who the victim reportedly knew, drove off in a white older model Chevrolet conversion van in an unknown directions. The suspects are described as white men with blonde-colored hair.
