Stabbing, hit-and-run leave 1 dead, 1 injured in Tustin

US

Tustin police are investigating a fatal stabbing and hit-and-run causing severe injury that occurred at the same location in the early morning hours of Monday.

At about 12:15 a.m., officers responded to the Arbor Ranch Apartments, 15482 Pasadena Ave., for reports of a vehicle striking a pedestrian and a stabbing, the Tustin Police Department said in a news release.

Upon arrival, officers located a man and a woman on nearby Nisson Road after he had been stabbed and she had been hit by a car that fled.

The man later succumbed to his wounds at a local hospital, though the woman “is currently in stable condition and communicating but has significant injuries,” police said.

About two hours after the incident, police arrested 18-year-old Jan Daniel Lopez of Santa Ana while he was driving in the 1200 block of North Kramer Avenue.

Lopez is accused of the stabbing and being the driver in the hit-and-run, police told KTLA’s Chip Yost.

Jail records show Lopez is being held in the Intake Release Center. His bail amount and next scheduled court date were not listed.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Schultz at 714-573-3200.
