Monday forecast: Abundant sunshine will make for a beautiful Labor Day in Chicagoland

US

It’s shaping up to be a beautiful Labor Day in Chicagoland.

Dry, pleasant air will continue to bathe the area, with abundant sunshine. Early-morning temps were cool, ranging in the 50s for most areas, with low dew points making for almost no humidity.

Inland highs Monday will reach the mid-70s, though it’ll be cooler along the lake.

Despite the sunny skies for Labor Day, it remains dangerous to swim in Lake Michigan. A High Swim Risk remains in effect, with east/northeast winds generating waves from 4 to 7 feet. So if you go to the beach on Monday, enjoy the sunshine but stay out of the water.

Meanwhile, the coming week looks to remain nice.

There’s a heat dome off to the west at the moment that will move east as the week progresses. However, mild Canadian air will also progress east, so the mass of hot air moving east will likely slide off to the south by the middle to the end of the week.

Still, temps will be increasing in Chicagoland later this week. Thursday highs look to be in the muggy mid-80s, with a chance for showers and storms later in the day.

But then the cooler Canadian air will settle in, with high temps next weekend possibly remaining in the 60s.
