Unlike other holidays, like Thanksgiving and Christmas, most stores and major retailers will open on Labor Day as people pick up last-minute trip essentials or shop for the best Labor Day deals.
However, federal government and state buildings won’t be open.
Here’s what you need to know:
Postal Services
Local post offices will also be closed on Monday. Regular mail will not be delivered, and mail dropped off at blue collection boxes will not be picked up. Facilities will also be closed for retail transactions. However, mail with Priority Mail Express, which operates daily, will be delivered, according to the agency’s website.
Select UPS locations will have limited hours of operation on Labor Day. Delivery services will also be unavailable except for Express Critical.
Select FedEx offices and services are also closed. FedEx Custom Critical, trade network and home delivery will be operational. Select locations will also be open for modified hours.
Amazon delivery services will also be suspended on Labor Day.
Delivery schedules for each service are expected to resume on Tuesday, Sept. 3
Banks
Like other federal holidays, banking branches will be closed, but some services, like self-service ATMs, will be available for those who need to withdraw money or make a deposit.
Retail and restaurant locations
Some retail locations, like Costco, will be closed on Labor Day. Restaurants like Chick-fil-A and Wendy’s will be open but operate on limited hours.
