Bystander wounded in Roseland carjacking attempt is hospitalized

A bystander was shot and wounded during an attempted carjacking, Chicago police said.

A 58-year-old man was in a vehicle in the 700 block of West 107th Street about 7:24 p.m. Sunday when a man with a gun approached him and tried to steal his car, police said. The armed man fired his weapon, hitting a 63-year-old man who had been walking nearby.

The older man was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in fair condition, police said. A man was arrested in connection with the shooting.
