Man, 57, shot to death on Brooklyn street

A 57-year-old man was shot to death on a Brooklyn street Sunday morning, police said.

The victim was shot in the chest on St. John’s Place near Troy Ave. in Crown Heights about 8:10 a.m., cops said.

He was taken by private means to Kings County Hospital but could not be saved.

Cops have not yet released the victim’s name and have made no arrests.

His killing took place around the corner from the site of a homicide from earlier this year. On Jan. 24, 37-year-old Barrington Howell was knifed to death by a mugger on Sterling Place near near Schnectady Ave. Cops arrested Jamel Miles, 34, and charged him with Howell’s murder.

The shooting marks the eighth homicide in the 77th Precinct this year. The precinct saw seven slaying in all of 2023.
