Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton on Thursday confirmed to KTLA sister station KUSI that one of its Marines has gone missing.

Bailey Cameron, 23, was reported missing Sunday to the military base’s command, according to Capt. James C. Sartain with Camp Pendleton.

“Efforts are underway with local commands to contact and locate the Marine,” Sartain said.

Cameron was last seen Sunday around 2 a.m. outside of The Coyote Bar and Grill in Carlsbad on Grand Avenue after a night out, according to his family.

His family says the Marine’s backpack, phone and sunglasses were all found on the sidewalk, but he was nowhere to be found and hasn’t been heard from since.

Sartain says notifications of Cameron’s disappearance have been passed to local police departments, hospitals and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.

City of Carlsbad spokesperson Denise Ramirez told KUSI in a statement on Friday that the local investigator with Carlsbad Police Department’s Crimes of Violence Unit, who handles all adult missing persons, is in communication with the U.S. Marine Corps and family.

Anyone with information about the Marine is being urged to call police.
