Three-day Septemberfest kicks off in Schaumburg

Patrons crowded the food tent by noon, just an hour after the opening of the three-day Septemberfest Saturday at the Robert O. Atcher Municipal grounds in Schaumburg.

Homemade chicken fingers, smoked baby back ribs, sweet corn and ice cream were just some of the favorites enjoyed during the “Taste of Schaumburg” portion of the festival. A carnival, an arts and crafts show and bingo also were part of the attractions.

Live music is being performed on the main stage all three nights. Sunday’s main stage acts are Petty Kings, a Tom Petty tribute band, from 6:30-8 p.m., followed by former “American Idol” winner Phillip Phillips from 8:30-10 p.m. Fireworks will cap off the Sunday fun at 10 p.m.

On Monday, Echoes of Pompeii will bring the sound of Pink Floyd to the main stage from 5:30-7 p.m., followed by suburban favorite 7th heaven from 7:30-9 p.m.
