A 15-year-old Matteson boy was ordered held pending trial, charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death Monday of a 22-year-old resident, according to Cook County sheriff’s police.

Police said they responded at 8 p.m. Monday to the 22000 block of Governors Highway for a report of a shooting outside a home and found Jose Moran-Padilla, of that address, unresponsive suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators learned there was a verbal argument outside the home between him and the 15-year-old, and that the teen shot Moran-Padilla in the back and right arm, police said.

Police said they recovered a semi-automatic handgun.

Sheriff’s police Thursday said they would not provide any additional information, such as any possible relationship between the youth and victim or who the firearm is registered to.

Police said the teen was taken into custody without incident, and ordered held at the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center after an initial court appearance Wednesday.

Moran-Padilla was pronounced dead at 9:26 p.m. Monday at Franciscan Health Olympia Fields, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, which ruled his death a homicide.
