AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police are looking for several persons of interest connected to an aggravated assault that happened in downtown Austin earlier this month.

On Sunday, Aug. 4 around 2:20 a.m., Austin Police Department officers who were patrolling the downtown entertainment district near Sixth Street heard and responded to the sound of gunfire near the intersection of East Seventh Street and Trinity Street.

Officers found a man in the area suffering from an “apparent gunshot wound,” APD said in a release. Austin-Travis County EMS also responded to the incident and took the man to a hospital, where he is still being treated, according to police.

APD said during the investigation detectives learned that there was a “large disturbance between multiple people prior to the shooting,” and it’s believed that disturbance was directly related to the shooting.

Investigators located images of the persons of interest involved in the disturbance and are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the people believed to have been involved. Those photos are below.

APD is asking the public for any information related to this shooting or the persons of interest. APD said detectives also believe there to be outstanding videos of the fight and/or the shooting that could lead to the identification of the persons of interest.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact APD’s Aggravated Assault Unit at 512-974-5245. You may submit your tip anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest.
