Police hunt for man who strangled Brooklyn woman in building lobby

US

A man snuck up and strangled a young woman who boldly fought off her attacker with a backwards kick to his groin — a harrowing attack caught on video, police said Monday night.

On Aug. 22 around 11 p.m., the 25-year-old woman entered her apartment building near Ocean Ave. and Parkside Ave. by Prospect Park when the man snuck up behind her and threw his arm around her neck, putting her in a chokehold, according to police, who are now on the hunt for the assailant.

The woman fought back, kicking him where it hurts and screaming “stop” and “help,” according to police, causing the man to tell her to “shut up” before releasing her and casually walking away.

The woman, who has not been identified, immediately called 911 but declined to go to the hospital, cops said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
