Northbound Interstate 25 closed in Castle Pines after crash, car fire

One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash and car fire on Interstate 25 in Castle Pines on Monday, shutting down the northbound highway for more than four hours.

Northbound I-25 reopened at 8:38 p.m., according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Emergency crews responded to a single-vehicle crash on northbound I-25 near Ridgegate Parkway at 4 p.m., the Lone Tree police officials said in a news release.

The vehicle was driving northbound on I-25 when the driver hit a median and the vehicle caught fire, police officials said.

South Metro Fire Rescue officials said the crash involved an electric vehicle and the car fire was “fully involved.”

The driver died from their injuries, Lone Tree police said.
