Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run Saturday night in Gardena, authorities confirmed to KTLA.

The deadly collision occurred just before midnight in the 1600 block of Rosecrans Avenue, near Denker Avenue, less than a mile west of the Lucky Lady Casino, according to a news release from the Gardena Police Department.

When officers arrived to the scene, they found a female victim lying in the street.

Medical personnel with the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded and declared the victim dead at the scene.

Footage of the aftermath obtained by KTLA shows the street cordoned off by officers, with the victim covered by a sheet in the roadway during the investigation. Motorists driving up to the scene were forced to turn around and find alternative routes.
