No 2 train service between Manhattan and Bronx this weekend, MTA says

With Labor Day weekend approaching, the MTA is advising riders of planned service changes throughout the subway system this week.

Starting on Monday, Aug. 26, overnight 2 train service will be suspended between the Third Avenue-149th Street stop in the Bronx and the 135th Street in Manhattan, from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily through Friday. Free shuttle buses will be available as the MTA works to replace tracks.

Also overnight from Monday through Friday to accommodate track work, New Lots Avenue-bound 4 trains will run express from the Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center station to the Crown Heights-Utica Avenue station, stopping only at Franklin Avenue. Service on the 3 line will be suspended during that period, with the 2 and 4 trains making stops on the 3 line.

For those planning on getting around the city this holiday weekend, 2 train service won’t be running between Third Avenue-149th Street in the Bronx and 96th Street in Manhattan from Friday at 11:30 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m. Free shuttle buses will again be available.

Service on the 3 train will also remain suspended over the weekend, with the 2 and 4 trains making those stops in Brooklyn.

Meanwhile, G train service is expected to be restored between the Bedford-Nostrand Avenues and Church Avenue stations in Brooklyn on Tuesday at 5 a.m., after the third phase of repairs in the line’s summer shutdown is completed. The work is meant to improve the G train’s reliability by upgrading signals, switches and tracks.

More information on subway service changes, including reduced service on some lines and shuttle schedules, is available on the MTA’s website.
