Excessive Heat Warning issued for Chicago area with heat index near 100

CHICAGO — Heat advisories and warnings go into effect Monday as extremely dangerous temperatures descend upon Chicagoland.

A Heat Advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. Monday for the entire Chicago area.

An Excessive Heat Warning begins at noon Monday through 10 p.m. Tuesday for all of Cook County.

Hazy sun with hot and humid conditions are expected. Heat Index: 100-105. Winds: SSW 10-20 mph. High: 96.

Mostly clear and unseasonably warm temperatures tonight. Winds: SW 5-10 mph. Low: 77.

Tuesday Forecast: Mostly sunny, hot and humid. Chance of isolated thunderstorms. Heat Index: 105-115. Excessive Heat Warning until 10 p.m. High 97.

Extended outlook calls for warm and humid conditions to continue into Wednesday with temperatures in the upper 80 and a chance of showers/t’storms. Heat Index: 95-100. 

Thursday looks just as warm with showers/t’storms possible but temps cooler lakeside. Friday high temps only in the mid to lower 80s with showers/t’storms likely.

Saturday and Sunday look to be close to seasonal norm of 81 with partly cloudy skies.
