Labrador Cuts in Front of Children on Waterslide to Get Her Turn—”Me First”

US

A dog carefully watching kids enjoy a waterslide finally caved and wanted a turn for some fun in the sun herself.

With over 3 million views on TikTok, people quickly became obsessed with this dog’s excitement to join the children playing. The Labrador’s owner, Sarah Spikes, explained that it also came as a surprise since the dog had never been on a waterslide before this video. They were shocked to see the pup wanted a turn and couldn’t stop laughing at her enthusiasm.

“She sat and watched the kids go up and down for a little bit, until she got it figured out,” Spikes told Newsweek via TikTok. “And then took off running before we even knew what was going on.”

The video posted to the account @sarahspikesrealtor earlier this month captured the dog going up the stairs of the inflatable waterslide. The clip showed her on her second or third run, but it looked like she knew exactly what she was doing. She hopped over the dividing wall between the stairs and the slide, cut a kid in line and zoomed right to the top.

The video’s caption indicates exactly what the dog was thinking: “Move over, me first.”

Fearless, the dog sprawled out on her stomach as she dove head-first down the slide. Her speed caught up to her at the bottom of it with her body almost flipping entirely over as she landed into the tiny pool.

She didn’t seem to mind as she hopped back up on all fours, ready for another round.

“She would have stayed out there all day if we let her!” Spikes said. ” We had to rein her in so she didn’t get overheated or wear herself out.”

As much as it seems like your dog is having fun in the sun, it’s important to be cautious of their limits because heat exhaustion in dogs could lead to serious and potentially fatal conditions like heat stroke or cardiac arrest.

The American Kennel Club (AKC) listed the following as signs of dogs experiencing heat exhaustion:

  • Frantic panting
  • Extreme salivation
  • Bright-red membranes
  • Labored breathing

TikTok Users React

The viral TikTok clip has amassed over 200,000 likes and 700 comments.

“Not her cutting your kid. She’s like, ‘Me first obviously,'” one user commented.

A second added: “She’s like, ‘Hey, little bro… let me show you how it’s done!'”

Another TikTok user suggested: “You know you have to rent this again for the dog’s birthday and invite other dogs.”
