AUSTIN (KXAN) — A round of a-paws: Monday marks National Dog Day, and staff at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center celebrated the festivities early with a group of furry friends.

Central Texas organization Divine Canines rang in the early celebration with a “Dog Days of Summer” themed parade at the south Austin hospital. The participating pups were clearly working on island time, wearing Hawaiian shirts, leis and even some hula skirts.

Staff said it was a nice break from daily stresses, adding it’s always a fun time to relax with some puppies. Divine Canines also passed out “trading cards” with the therapy dogs’ faces on them, to hang on the walls near the hospital’s nurses stations.
