There wasn’t much for Red Sox fans to cheer about during a 12-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night at Fenway Park, but shortstop Ceddanne Rafaela offered something with the catch of the night in the sixth inning.

The Diamondbacks already had pushed a 2-1 lead to 5-1 in the top of the sixth, and looked to add more with runners on the corners and one out. Red Sox reliever Joely Rodríguez, who replaced starter Brayan Bello, got Diamondbacks leadoff man Corbin Carroll to pop out to Rafaela for the second out.

Jake McCarthy was up next, and got jammed on a 1-1 pitch, fighting it off with a bloop shot to shallow left. It looked like the ball was going to fall for another hit and run for Arizona, but Rafaela raced back, leaped, and made a full-extension catch over his shoulder to end the inning.
