Ventura man found with child porn on laptop after bringing device in for repairs: D.A.

US

A Ventura man is accused of keeping a “large quantity” of child pornography on his computer, which was discovered when he brought it to a local computer shop for repairs.

Matthew Glenn Longwill, 49, was arrested on Aug. 5 and appeared in court Thursday to face one felony charge of possession of child sexual abuse material.

Longwill pleaded not guilty, according to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.

He became the subject of an investigation after he brought his laptop in to a local store for repairs and the material was allegedly found on his hard drive. Officers from the Ventura Police Department obtained a search warrant for his home and found more of the material on other devices in his home.

Jail records indicate that Longwill works as a chiropractor, and a local business that lists his name as the owner and operator offers adult, child and infant chiropractic services.

Longwill is currently out of custody on $50,000 bail and is prohibited from having any contact with minors as a condition of his release.

His next court date is scheduled for Sept. 26, the D.A.’s Office said.

The case remains under investigation by the Ventura Police Department and is being prosecuted by a member of the District Attorney’s Office Special Prosecutions Fraud and Technology Crimes Unit.
