Harris accepts presidential nomination

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – The Democratic convention is officially over.

Late Thursday night Vice President Kamala Harris took the stage to rally supporters as she fights for the White House.

On the final night of the Democratic convention Vice President Kamala Harris made a direct appeal to voters.

“This election is not only the most important of our lives, it is one of the most important in the life of our nation,” Harris said.

Over the course of the four-day convention the Harris campaign and Democratic allies worked to introduce Harris to the American people.

She highlighted her personal story as a daughter of immigrants and her history as a prosecutor and senator and made the case for their new candidate.

The Democrats warned against sending former president Donald Trump back to the White House and framed the election as an opportunity.

“To move past the bitterness, cynicism and divisive battles of the past, a chance to chart a new way forward,” Harris said.

Harris supporters say the convention was a showcase of the energy and enthusiasm in the Democratic party, but the race is expected to be very competitive as both candidates work to rally voters ahead of November.

“So, Let’s get out there. Let’s fight for it,” said Harris.

The presidential field could get a little narrower soon.  Independent candidate Robert F.  Kennedy Jr is set to give a speech today amid speculation that he might drop out of the race.
