Cheryl Hines addresses RFK Jr. pausing campaign, endorsing Trump

“Curb Your Enthusiasm” star Cheryl Hines weighed-in on her husband’s “eye-opening” presidential run, which effectively ended Friday with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. suspending his independent campaign and backing Republican Donald Trump — an idea Kennedy confirmed made her “very uncomfortable.”

“I deeply respect the decision Bobby made to run on the principle of unity,” Hines wrote on social media after Kennedy said he was putting his dying campaign on ice.

Kennedy was polling at around 5% when he announced he would get behind Trump, who polls show to be trailing in a tight race with Democrat Kamala Harris.

“Over the last year and a half, I have met some extraordinary people from all parties — Democrats, Republicans, and Independents,” Hines continued. “It’s been my experience that the vast majority of all parties are truly good people who want the best for our country and for each other. It has been an eye-opening, transformative, and endearing journey.”

The Hill’s senior politics correspondent, Hanna Trudo, said Thursday that Hines “does ‘not’ want Kennedy to endorse Trump,” which was complicating his team’s discussions with Trump’s campaign to work out a surrender strategy.

There have been indications Trump could reward Kennedy for his support with a cabinet position should the former president return to power.

Hines didn’t address that speculation in her Friday post, which thanked Kennedy’s campaign staffers for their tireless work and expressed frustration over her husband’s struggles to get on the ballot in some states.

In response, Kennedy thanked Hines for her unconditional love despite his decision to back Trump — a political decision “with which she is very uncomfortable,” he wrote on X.

Hines conceded in 2022 that, while her husband was railing against life-saving COVID vaccines, the two of them don’t always agree on things.

“My husband’s opinions are not a reflection of my own,” Hines wrote on social media early that year. “While we love each other, we differ on many current issues.”
