Woman gets ‘runt of the litter’ kitten—not prepared her what she turns into

US

The saying most people learn while growing up, “Don’t judge a book by its cover,” could also be transferred into pet ownership because you truly never know what you’re getting after you bring home a fur baby.

One owner, known as TikTok user @lacebaseouterspace, was under the impression she was getting a “runt of the litter” kitten. The runt is usually known to be the smallest or weakest baby out of the litter. However, as this kitten continued to grow, she shed that title.

The August 10 TikTok video shows Ruby as a kitty. She looked small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. But, of course, no kitten stays that little. Most female cats weigh between eight and 10 pounds, according to an article from Vet Explains Pets. However, that can vary significantly depending on the individual cat with some being naturally smaller or larger, which is perfectly normal.

And her tiny Ruby quickly turned out to be not-so-little. The second half of the clip revealed what Ruby looks like today and the result is simply not what anyone expected. Ruby filled into her female body at 22 pounds.

The caption reads: “Sweet chonky ruby girl.”

The clip zoomed into Ruby and her filled-out figure. Viewers could see she was packing on the pounds, but that only means she’s got more body to accept snuggles. She’s doing it to become a furry pillow for her owner.

Although, Ruby doesn’t look too happy about her owner showing off her body. Ruby stared directly into the camera with a frown plastered across her face. Her eyes were furious. She didn’t want her body posted online for free for millions to gawk over.

Newsweek reached out to @lacebaseouterspace via TikTok for additional information.

Viewer Reactions

The surprising TikTok video amassed over 1.1 million views, 116,300 likes and 325 comments.

“The look on her face, ‘I know you’re not telling everybody my business,'” commented a viewer. That cat was not happy being compared to her younger self.

One person pointed out: “That is one very well-fed cat.”

Another joked: “Finally made it to the best part of TikTok chubby kitty tok.”

And as it turns out, runts … A TikToker said: “My runt cannot control himself around food, runt trauma.”
