Two women in U-Haul truck run off after Queens crash kills pedestrian

US

Two women abandoned a U-Haul and ran off  — at least one in bare feet — after they were involved in a fatal crash at a Queens intersection Tuesday morning that left a pedestrian dead, cops said.

The U-Haul truck, heading west on the Horace Harding Expressway in Flushing, was struck by a 42-year-old man driving a Honda Accord south on Kissena Blvd. about 12:30 a.m., cops said.

One of the vehicles then crashed into a lamppost and a 56-year-old man standing nearby, who died at the scene, cops said.

The victim’s name was not immediately released.

Two women were seen exiting the U-Haul and running off, according to early reports. At least one of the women left her shoes in the U-Haul as she made her escape, police sources said.

The driver of the Honda was taken to New York-Presbyterian Hospital Queens with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are hunting for the U-Haul truck’s occupants. Members of the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad are trying to determine what sparked the crash.
