One person is dead and another seriously injured after an incident at a North Andover home Monday, officials confirmed.

The Essex County District Attorney’s Office said that one person was transferred to the hospital with serious injuries from the home on Turnpike Street. The other was pronounced dead.

The Eagle-Tribune reported that a mother and a young child were victims of a stabbing, possibly an infant, according to some of their sources. The newspaper said there was no immediate arrest or search for a suspect.

The DA’s Office did not comment on the circumstances of the incident or the victims.

North Andover police, Massachusetts State police, and the DA are “in the early stages of an active investigation,” the DA’s Office said in a statement. They are asking the public to stay away from the scene.

No other information was immediately released.
