Kiss Cam proposal gone wrong at Chargers-Rams game leaves fans questioning if it’s real

US

Fans were left questioning whether a Kiss Cam proposal gone horribly wrong at the Chargers-Rams preseason game was more Hollywood drama than real life.

A video posted to X showed a gentleman in a Rams jersey, who at first appeared to be looking at his cell phone, get out of his seat and drop to one knee in the stands after the couple was shown on the Kiss Cam as Chargers hosted their in-city rivals at SoFi Stadium on Saturday.

The woman, wearing at Chargers jersey, put her hand to her mouth when he flips open the ring box and starts waving her hands as to say she might not be ready for a commitment.

As she closes the box, a woman walking down the aisle steps carrying a tray of nachos smashes into the poor gentleman and splatters cheese all over his white Puka Nacua jersey.

However, if you watch closely, it looks like she spills them on him even before making contact.

He appears to be frustrated by both being rejected and the food spillage, looks angrily at the woman he is with, and then his jersey before turning away from her as the clip ends.

The bizarre situation left many fans on social media curious if it was set up all along.

“Every fake skit like this should cost a team a draft pick,” X user @sirwilliam72003 wrote in the replies.  “It’s embarrassing.”

One user was convinced it was all skit, pointing out the Rams fan looking terrible getting rejected by a Chargers fan before the food debacle.

“They are rivals since they are both in LA, and the Rams are the away team,” X user CForumGA wrote.  “It’s just a funny skit.”

Added @IanM_81: “The fakest cringe.”

Another wasn’t happy with the L.A. franchise for potentially staging a hoax of a proposal.

“So dumb. Is this how lame the LA sports teams are that they have to make up dumb “viral” skits?” @Pieschel_Chris wrote on X. “Sad.”

If it was real, at least that fan –despite appearing to not get a “yes” — got to see his Rams beat the Chargers 13-9 as they prepare for their Week 1 match-up with the Lions on Sept. 8.
