Man dead after shooting in Bronzeville

CHICAGO – A man has died after a shooting in Bronzeville early Saturday morning.

Chicago police said the shooting happened at around 12:30 a.m. in the 4500 block of South Champlain Avenue. A witness told investigators a 28-year-old man was on the sidewalk when the suspect began shooting at him, hitting him several times.

Personnel with the Chicago Fire Department took the victim to the University of Chicago Hospital in critical condition. He has since died from his injuries sustained in the shooting, according to investigators.

No arrests have been made and Area One Detectives are investigating.
