Man critically wounded Saturday afternoon on West Side, police say – Chicago Tribune

A man described as in his 30s was left in critical condition Saturday afternoon after being shot multiple times on the West Side in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly after 2:30 p.m., someone approached the victim in the first block of South Lavergne Avenue and fired multiple shots in his direction before fleeing the scene.

The victim suffered wounds to the neck and back, and was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

No one was in custody and detectives were investigating.
