WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) — At a rally in North Carolina, Vice President Kamala Harris laid out a plan to create what she calls an “opportunity economy” that she says would help save Americans money in the checkout line.
“Because look, the bills add up,” Harris said.
On Friday, she announced her plans to federally ban price gouging of groceries.
“My plan will include new penalties for opportunistic companies that exploit crises and break the rules and we will support smaller food businesses that are trying to play by the rules and get ahead,” she said.
Republican Vice-Presidential pick Sen. JD Vance was in Wisconsin on Friday.
He told the Milwaukee Police Association that the Trump administration backs the blue and took a jab at his opponent.
“Kamala Harris is on a tour where she’s trying to redefine her record as a tough on crime prosecutor. And yet if you look at Kamala Harris’s record as a prosecutor it is the opposite of tough on crime,” Vance said.
Vance also defended former President Trump’s campaign style.
“I think the unscripted nature of President Trump is one of the reasons why his campaign gives some pretty good insight into the kind of president he’s going to be,” Vance said.
Both campaigns are turning their focus to Pennsylvania.
The Harris campaign is launching a bus tour in Western Pennsylvania this weekend.
On Monday, Trump and Vance will be on the east side of the state talking about the economy.
