Eugene and Dan Levy to host 2024 Emmy Awards

The Levys are hosting the 76th annual Emmys.

On Friday it was announced that Eugene Levy and his son Dan, stars of the Emmy-Award-winning comedy series “Schitt’s Creek,” will host the awards ceremony. It will be the first time a father and son will take over hosting duties.

“For two Canadians who won our Emmys in a literal quarantine tent, the idea of being asked to host this year in an actual theater was incentive enough,” both men said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to be able to raise a glass to this extraordinary season of television and can’t wait to spend the evening with you all.”

The Levys each have four Emmys themselves. Eugene has won two for “Schitt’s Creek” and “SCTV.” Dan has taken home four for his work on “Schitt’s Creek.”

In 2020 they made history for being the first father-son duo to win Emmys in the same year. However, due to the pandemic, the ceremony took place remotely. Eugene won for outstanding comedy actor and Dan won for supporting comedy actor as well as outstanding directing for a comedy series and outstanding writing in a comedy series. That same year “Schitt’s Creek” took home the award for outstanding comedy series.

“Eugene’s and Dan’s comedic intuition and uncanny ability to capture the hearts of viewers will make for a memorable Emmys telecast honoring this year’s best and brightest,” said Craig Erwich, president, Disney Television Group.

“We are thrilled to welcome two generations of comedy genius to the Emmy’s stage as hosts,” said Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego. “Eugene and Dan Levy are known for creating unforgettable laugh-out-loud moments on screen, and together, they are super-charged. I cannot wait for Emmy fans to see what they have in store for all of us.”

The Emmys will air live on ABC on Sept. 15 from the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles. It will stream the next day on Hulu.
