Brent Clifford, son of longtime Credence Clearwater Revival Doug Clifford, has been arrested in California in connection with a Nevada homicide and California missing person’s case.

The Reno (Nev.) Police Department announced Clifford was taken into custody in Portola, Calif., on Wednesday with the help of the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office.

A warrant was out for Clifford’s arrest after William Andrews, 68, was found fatally shot in Reno on Sunday morning. Police said the two knew each other. According to police, Clifford, 55, had Andrews’ red 2003 Chevy Blazer with him when he was arrested. Portola is about 50 miles northwest of Reno.

Separately, the Placer County (Calif.) Sheriff’s Office and the Reno Police Department consider Clifford a suspect in the disappearance of his girlfriend Patricia Portella-Wright, 48, who went missing earlier this month. She was last seen with Clifford on Aug. 4 in the Kings Beach area of Lake Tahoe, but wasn’t reported missing until Aug. 9 when she did not show up at work.

An unidentified body believed to be Portella-Wright was discovered Thursday alongside a highway in Washoe County (Nev.) but it has not been confirmed to be the missing woman.

“There is apparent foul play involved,” Placer County Sheriff’s Office spokesman active Lt. Dave Smith said during a Thursday news conference.
