Nets to face Bridges, Knicks on national TV in January

The 2024-25 NBA schedule is out, and the Nets will open next season on the road against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday, Oct. 23.

It will be Jordi Fernandez’s first game as the franchise’s latest head coach and also the NBA debut of No. 1 overall pick Zaccharie Risacher. Barclays Center will re-open its doors to Nets fans on Sunday, Oct. 27 as the team welcomes Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Nets’ only nationally-televised game, not on NBA TV, will be played on Jan. 21, when Mikal Bridges returns to Barclays Center with the Knicks. They had five nationally-televised games last season.

Brooklyn has three more inner-borough matchups scheduled for Nov. 15 (road), Nov. 17 (road) and April 13 (home). The first meeting will be the Nets’ Emirates NBA Cup group play opener. Other group play games will be played on Nov. 19, 22nd and 29th.

SCHEDULE FACTS

  • The Nets 2024-25 season will feature 15 sets of back-to-backs, their most since 2020-21.
  • Eight of the Nets’ final 11 games will be played at Barclays Center.
  • The Nets’ longest road trip is a six-game West Coast swing from Friday, Jan. 10 to Sunday, Jan 19. They will face the Nuggets, Jazz, Trail Blazers, Clippers, Lakers and Thunder over that stretch.
  • The Nets will play a season-high six straight road games from Tuesday, Feb. 4 to Thursday, Feb. 20. They will face the Rockets, Wizards, Heat, Hornets, 76ers and Cavaliers over that stretch.

GAMES TO WATCH

  • Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns will return to Brooklyn on Wednesday, January 22. The Suns won 136-12o in last season’s meeting at Barclays Center. Durant finished with 33 points, five rebounds and eight assists in 38 minutes.
  • Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks will return to Brooklyn on Monday, March 24. The Mavericks won 119-107 in last season’s meeting at Barclays Center. Irving finished with 36 points, two rebounds and five assists in 40 minutes.
  • James Harden and the Los Angeles Clippers will return to Brooklyn on Friday, March 28. The Nets won 100-93 in last season’s meeting at Barclays Center. Harden finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and five assists in 36 minutes.
  • Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors will return to Brooklyn on Thursday, March 6. The Warriors won 109-98 in last season’s meeting at Barclays Center. Curry finished with 29 points, five rebounds and three assists in 34 minutes.
  • LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers will return to Brooklyn on Monday, March 10. The Lakers won 116-104 in last season’s meeting at Barclays Center. James finished with 40 points, seven rebounds and five assists in 37 minutes.
  • Kenny Atkinson and the Cleveland Cavaliers return to Brooklyn on Thursday, Feb. 20. It will be Atkinson’s first game back at Barclays Center as a head coach. Atkinson was previously head coach of the Nets from 2016-20 and was most recently a top assistant for the Warriors. Cleveland’s roster will also feature Jarrett Allen and Caris LeVert, who are both former Nets players.
  • Fernandez’s first game against his old team, the Sacramento Kings, will be played on Sunday, Nov. 24 at Golden 1 Center. He served as the Kings’ associate head coach last season.

OTHER NOTES

  • Former franchise superstar Vince Carter will have his No. 15 jersey retired at Barclays Center at some point during the 2024-25 season, but the Nets have yet to reveal what date it will be. The 6-6 guard finished his career as an eight-time All-Star and was named to an All-NBA team twice.
