17-year-old boy dies after Humboldt Park shooting

CHICAGO — A 17-year-old boy died after he was shot Wednesday night in Humboldt Park.

At around 6:15 p.m., the boy, later identified as Jaylen Powell, 17, was standing near a sidewalk in the 3400 block of West Franklin when an unknown vehicle approached.

Three males exited the vehicle and at least one fired shots Powell.

He was shot in the head multiple times and was transported to Mt. Sinai in critical condition.

Powell was pronounced dead at the hospital.
